I hope you all had a great holiday despite the travel dangers the Portland weather imposed upon many of you. We certainly had a white Christmas! Not only that, but we broke records for how much snow we got in and around the Portland area. Its still surreal to me; nearly two feet of snow in some places! Any Portlander knows it’s a near miracle when it snows and sticks for more than an afternoon and well, tomorrow (Sunday) will mark two weeks since the white stuff began to fall from the sky and we are still snow covered though the thaw has begun in some areas.
From what I could see, we’ve all the made absolute best of what could have been a rather disgruntling experience. I was tickled to see everyone out and about in urban Portland—on foot, ski, heavily chained, by sled, by bicycle(!), with dogs, with kids resembling the state puff marshmallow man and my favorite….on a mini-bike towing a sled!
PS-- I have been insanely jealous of all of you trekking around the city on your cross country skis—it’s been killing me to watch you!! (I desperately wanted to be one of you but had no skis and could not justify buying them for our “freak winter weather occurrence”).
We’ve had some awesome additions to our
Portland Photo album- please have a look-see and add your own; we’d love to see the Portland winter through your eyes.
