Keep track of all of our current contests on our new Contests page. Come over and learn how you can win a Portland gift certificate. This week, our member Beca referred our 100th member, Josh. Beca scored a gift certificate from Portland's Pix Patisserie, and Josh will be eating his slice of Portland happiness at Hot Lips Pizza. Want to win? It's easy! Just check the Contests page to learn how.
This week you will want to check out the Portland Rose Festival's WaMu Waterfront Village. This is a great Portland event, with rides, games, shows and events for the whole family. Also tonight, you'll want to see the Starlight Parade! "Now known as the Starlight Parade, the Portland Rose Festival's illuminated parade remains one of our most popular events, drawing more than 250,000 spectators to watch sparkling floats, gleaming bands and glowing marching groups wind their way through downtown."
If you're in the mood for music tonight, be sure to drop by Mississippi Studios for the show - Jason Spooner Trio with Ross Seligman. "The ingredients behind northern New England's Jason Spooner Trio read like a bizarre musical science experience. Start with a prolific, singer/songwriter (Jason Spooner) with heavy roots, folk & blues influences. Then mix in a classically-trained bassist (Adam
Frederick) with foundations in jazz and a knack for serious pocket grooves. Lastly, shake things up with a rock-solid drummer (Reed Chambers) with deep-seeded roots in funk, soul & reggae, and you've begun to scratch the surface of this unique, energetic band. Ross Seligman is the guitarist and
lead vocalist for Portland's orchestral rock quintet, Echo Helstrom."
There are lots more Portland events this week, just check the Events calendar. You can also add your own events.
Thanks to all our members who are adding events, keep 'em coming!

We are very pleased to announce that our first guidebook to Portland has just been published. PortlandNeighborhood's Guide to the Perfect Portland Weekend breaks Portland down into several suggested weekend itineraries - whether you're a sports nut, a romantic, love to shop, or want to do Portland on a budget, and more--we've got a chapter just for you. With a focus on many locally-owned Portland businesses and restaurants, we're proud to support Portland and to celebrate our great dynamic city with our readers. The paperback travel book is available on Amazon and Barnes and Noble, as well as in an on-line eBook format. Click here to learn more and to buy the book. We hope you enjoy reading it as much as we enjoyed exploring our city and writing it!
Just a reminder - PortlandNeighborhood.com is proud to be a sponsor of the Stumptown Challenge, Portland's own urban adventure! The Stumptown Challenge is a race that tests body and mind. Are you fleet of foot? Quick of wit? Show your Stumptown roots and navigate your way to victory. On July 19th, assemble a team, don sneakers and thinking caps, and embark upon a city-wide scavenger hunt. Teams of two solve clues and visit eleven checkpoints scattered throughout Portland. There are no restrictions on clue-solving strategy, but travel is limited to foot and TriMet. The first team to successfully photograph themselves at each of eleven Portland checkpoints and make it back to base is the winner. Learn more about this fun event and register to create your team!
Have a great week, Portland! If you enjoy the website, please invite your friends. You could win a Portland gift certificate!
