Portland Blog- This Week in Portland December 26 - January 2

So, here's hoping your holiday was warm and wonderful- full of love, friendship and good food! My holidays are engineered to be lowkey and we had a nice time this year. Somehow, I was slow on the uptake and was still registering the fact it was nearly Christmas just a few days before. So, on the very night before Christmas Eve we ventured out and found a tree lot in St Johns. We walked away with a gorgeous 8 foot Noble (I think) for $10. Wow! And its a real looker as you can see:…

Merry Christmas!

Wishing a very Merry Christmas and a happy holiday season to everyone in Portland, those I've had the pleasure of meeting online and those I haven't met yet! I will be there in just a few months and am looking forward to a wonderful NEXT Christmas, and many Christmases thereafter, in the Pacific Northwest!

Portland Last Minute Holiday Shopping Ideas - Gift Ideas for Portland Procrastinators

Hmm, did you wait until the last minute to start your holiday shopping? Well, so did I! I went to the Post Office in Downtown Portland last night to hurry up and ship my holiday gifts. Oh my God, there were at least 100 people in there in line waiting to ship their gifts! But, the good news is that they now have a 24 hour ship-your-own station where you can weigh/print, and ship right from the lobby. I really can't fathom the logistics of how my gifts will make it from Portland Oregon to… Continue

Portland Blog - This Week in Portland, December 19-26, Holiday Edition

Hello, Portlanders. If you're still shopping for holiday gifts, then you'll be happy to know that the Portland Saturday Market Festival of the Last Minute is on! If you're like me, you probably wait until the last possible second and then buy gift cards on Amazon.com, but this year I would really love to support our local economy and help the artisans and craftspeople at the market. (If nothing else, buy your gift cards at… Continue

New Years Eve Portland Oregon - 2010 Portland New Years Eve Parties - New Years Parties in Portland

This year has flown by. In fact, I have not even started Christmas shopping, have not mailed any holiday cards, and it took a co-worker to remind me that Christmas is like...uh next week! So...since I am obviously going to be late getting ready for Christmas, I thought I would think ahead to New Years.

So...are you ready to ring in the 2010 New Year, Portland style? I thought so. I went and found as many juicy New Years Eve Portland parties as I could and slapped 'em up on our… Continue

Portland Blog- This Week in Portland December 12 - December 19

So this cold snap is pretty flippin' cold. Seriously. My furnace feels like it has been running for a week straight. Weather reports say the "actual temp is 23- feels like 23". Ha! It "feels" like Nebraska- it "feels" like my old Bungalow is not insulated well enough to make this bearable! I did hear some folks chatting about a drop in natural gas prices and that is definitely good news.

From the Public Utility… Continue

Portland Blog- This Week in Portland December 5 - December 12

Hey PDX,

I can't believe how cold it is out there! I checked the weather to see if there was snow on the horizon and sure enough, we might see some around the 13th. I hope we get snow and lots of it! The snowstorm we had last year was awesome...For me, there's nothing like cooking up a nice pot of soup or chili, making some cocoa and heading out for a snowy adventcha. When it snows in Portland, the city shuts down and the world becomes quiet outside of the *crunch*crunch*crunch of… Continue

The Importance of Self during this Selfless Season

Physiologically we have varied responses to the stress of the holiday season, ranging from everyday forgetfulness and holiday weight gain to breathlessness, agitation, and compromised immunity.

Creating a self movement practice can help you step out of this threshold of stress. Whether your practice is 5 minutes… Continue
