Last Chance to See Migrating Vaux's Swifts this Year!

Ok, I am kind of bummed it is already fall, but fall brings some wonderful things: like the migrating Vaux's swifts birds to the Chapman School chimney, and a handful of other locations in Portland (maybe even your own chimney!). I saw them last night and they were amazing. They are probably only here a few more nights, so get over there at dusk to see this amazing site! …

Running To Catch Up

It's approaching a month since we've returned home, and being “idle” (are people who are searching for work “idle”? I think NOT) has started to gently nibble at my joie de vivre.

I just a couple of days ago received a form letter via email from a prospective employer thanking me for interviewing but informing me that the position has been filled. Most other applications I've made have been via website and email, a process I find much more stressful than face-to-face interviews (for… Continue

Smashing Pumpkins

Wow! Five days in a row at MusicFest NW and we couldn't have had more fun. We saw/heard some amazing bands and had a great time. My favorite concert was Smashing Pumpkins who played at the intimate Wonder Ballroom (pretty much walking distance from my house, something I never imagined). If you missed MusicFestNW you can catch it again next year, it seems to get bigger and better each…

Looking for Contacts

I've been working for several years as a server (as well as some bartending) in a locally owned booming restaurant business in Lexington, KY. I get the feeling from some posts that job hunting in Portland is significantly more difficult than where I currently live, but I wonder if that… Continue

In my taxi I really got a feel for Portland, it's great food, music, arts, attractions and the people who live here and make it such an amazing city. My… Continue
