Diving right in

I stopped by one of my favorite dive shops on Friday—Underwater Works in Tigard—and ordered a new dive computer. I plan to do lots of Baja Sur diving in December and wanted to check out warmer dive suits, too. My shortie is perfect for Caribbean waters, but Sea of Cortez diving can get a little cool.

Thunder & Lightning

When I woke this morning to my house vibrating from thunder, I almost cried with happiness. The cracks, booms, and shakes, followed by a downpour, was enough to push me over the edge into euphoria.

It's HAAWTT, sweet lord, I mean HOT!!!! Yes, I love it. Freakin' love it. I don't know about you, but this wonderful choking heat has caused me to dig out my neglected ole' swimming suit and hit the river! Irvington Artisan Market on Sat - August 9

While I was out shopping, I ran into a woman who mentioned the upcoming Irvington Artist Market--something she helped to launch for the first time this year. She handed me a flier, so I thought I'd help a fellow Portland sister get the word out by posting the event here and blogging it.

Red Bull Flugtag Portland - Videos!

Oh my God, what a crazy scene it was on the Willamette Riverfront today! I have never seen that many Portanders out in force for one event. What fun! I don't know what the main appeal of Flugtag is, exactly, but it is funny as hell to watch. People in random costumes doing short dances or skits, as they then launch their inventively designed "aircraft" into a very short flight...usually plummeting in some ungraceful fashion promptly off the runway and straight into the water. Hello, Portland! I rode my bike to work in the cool drizzle yesterday morning, and as I write this blog, it's only 58 degrees out.
