Take. A. Camera!

I had this brilliant idea yesterday.

It's raining a little.  We have an apartment full of kids.  Kaya, Daisy, and Bella are crowded around a laptop, employed in the construction of a boss mansion in a Sims game.  Hailey is busy with paper and colored pencils, her face so close to the surface of the table in her intense scrutiny of her medium that she looks asleep except for the dervish of the pencil in her blurring fist.  Zoey, three years old, is painting her own upper torso with the…

THE BUBBLE...Lake Oswego Oregon

Walking the streets and avenues of downtown Lake Oswego, I am reminded of how blessed we are to live in this unique city by the lake; lovingly referred to, by the residents, as " The Bubble "...this is a good thing. Lake Oswego has…

Oof. Mind The Speed Bumps.

You know I like riding my bicycle, right?  We've been over that?  Good, I thought I'd mentioned it a time or two.

Don't get me wrong, I don't live on the machine like some seem to do.  My longest ride flirted with the 30-mile mark, and although I'm in love with the idea of participating in Cycle Oregon and Reach The Beach and STP, my schedule makes it unlikely and I'd have to do some pree-tee serious training miles before any such idea could be deemed any saner than…

Mostest Bestest

Not surprisingly, I use the innerwebz for research when looking for new and different things to do around town (guess which website I go to first? No, I mean besides Yelp. You're just try'na get me in trouble!). This week I was poking around looking for something for the missus and I to do on my next weekend off (partial answer: get my bike fixed; earlier this week I tried to fit it into a little old lady's hatchback while I was still on it, but's let's not talk about that right now), and I…

Esplanade

I can think of few things more aggravating (other than, well okay, a lot of things because I'm just naturally cranky, so what?) than planning an excursion specifically to take photos only to have the batteries (or in this case, the memory card) crap out with the first click.  Yesterday's trip to Vera Katz Eastbank Esplanade therefore will have to be celebrated by featuring the pictures of other people, people whose photographic gifts are superior to mine, so perhaps we should all be…

Woe. Wide. Uh. Wides A Widow Woe-uh.

(Note:  This is an older post of mine, from another place and time.  Not Portland-centric, but I've been told that, should I ever release a Greatest Hits compilation, this one should be included.  -Rob)

It's not every day one gets to participate in a rescue, and it's not a bad way at all to begin an afternoon. It's also an opportunity to understand that, as sucky as you think your day is going to be, someone else's day might have the potential to suck way harder.

Had…
