Alberta Street's Last Thursday

Alberta Street knows how to party and if you are an artist you won't want to miss out on this great opportunity to get your name and your art out there. From 12th up to 33rd, the streets are lined with artisans and performers alike, from face painting and Henna art(which I had to indulge in) to bike chain art, there is definitely something for everyone at this festivity. For the June month, the day was weather perfect with a blazing sun and a slight cool breeze. The crowded streets buzzed with… Continue

Volunteer at Free Geek!

I recently went to Free Geek here in Portland for an orientation. This was the start to becoming a volunteer and working through a couple different programs they have established to help educate people on how to build, reuse, and recycle older computers. A group from school(PCC) went together as part of a community service project to earn, or build, a computer for a less fortunate student. Free Geek is run mostly on volunteers and has a great vision for why… Continue

My First Rotoscoping Project

Here is my very first rotoscope project. Rotoscoping is making a video look animated using Photoshop and Flash. My next one will look and work better, I learned much while doing this one. For instance, next time I will use less than 50% of the trace bitmap effect that makes the image look like a cartoon. I will have to experiment some more. Once I perfect the technique, I plan to try my hand at making a tutorial about it. Stay tuned.…

Portland's Best Recipe Contest

Ok...let's fire up a new one, the Portland Recipe & Cookbook Contest.

Share your favorite recipe and win a gift certificate to Portland's Kitchen Kaboodle! We thought it would be fun to put our combined Portland recipes on-line and create our own little Portland cookbook--which we can put into a PDF file for easy download and print, and even have a real paperback cookbook available for purchase.

Here's the deal... The contest will run from now until we decide we have…

Multimedia networking in P-town

I would like to share and discuss media events in Portland. It would be great to get an ongoing group together to venture out and experience the latest technology of art that we can find here in this great, creative town. I am a multimedia student who is soon to get my AA in this field and am looking to network and build upon the ever expanding ideas and concepts of this creative medium. My primary target is on video and film, however I have had experience building websites, and using flash for… Continue
