6 Police clerks lose jobs, restricting public to East /No. precincts/Traffic-Training Div at night.

Last year the city consolidated 5 precints to 3, closing North (N Philadelphia) and SE (47/Burnside). St. John's community was upset losing connection to police. Training moved to this location and Traffic to former SE location. They assured citizens of St. John's they'd have a place where one could speak in person, i.e. desk clerks. Moving to Portland - Need advice on where to live

Greetings Portlanders. I'm a 39 year old single white male planning to move to your fine city this fall/winter. I'm hoping you can give me some advice on where to live. I'm definitely looking to reside in the core city, but there are so many neighborhoods it's hard to know where to start. Ideally I'm looking for affordability, diversity (racial, sexual, singles as well as families), not too trendy OR bohemian, good access to public transportation...for starters.
