It's time for Mardi Gras in Portland!

I'm working with a great team of New Orleans ex-pats who've transformed themselves into the Mysti Krewe of Nimbus . In New Orleans, a krewe is mearly an organization that puts together a float, parade or celebration ball for the Mardi Gras season. There are a gazillion Krewes, some very old and revered, some new and piecemeal!

Valentine's Day

Happy V Day Everyone!

I went to Willamette Park yesterday am to shoot photos and do some bird watching (Hey, I love the nerd in me). It turned out to be quite the morning. I found shoreline sludge to report, photographed some geese, met some Russians (one of whom was drunk and kissed me on the cheek) shot a sunrise, found some Valentine's Day colors, and then met the nicest man from India. It was a fantastic morning! I Hope you like my photos,

Running My Mouth

This morning I'm listening to 100.3 The Peak, an Albuquerque radio station, because I'm having a fit of nostalgia. I chose this station because, other than University of New Mexico's KUNM, this is the only place on the dial that won't play classic rock (Have we discussed this? I'm sure we have, but for those just joining, I'll explain that my stint in Albuquerque has perhaps forever cured me of anything like lust for classic rock. Classic rock and I are…

Neighborhood Suggestions?

I'm a self-employed artist, and will be moving to Portland in the Fall. I'd like to live in a neighborhood where there are other creative folks, doing their thing. Other factors that are important to me in a neighborhood are a sense of community, proximity to parks and bike paths, and easy access to public transportation; someplace that has plenty of social gathering spots, such as cafes, pubs, little restaurants, etc. and activities available like yoga, dance, open-mike and music jams. Any…See More
