Apartment Recommendations

Hi,

We are now really starting to ramp up our moving time line.  I am so excited - and nervous!  I will be moving to the Portland/Beaverton area any time now and leaving my husband behind for a few months.   I need recommendations on descent apartments and areas to live.  We don't have much money for an apartment since we still have mortgage payments until my husband can sell our house, so I need something cheap - but descent.  I will be moving with my dog (a Border Collie…

Coava Roasters

This is a fantastic place to sip a great cup of coffee. I loved the open industrial space and big community tables. The space itself encourages conversation, as does the namesake coffee. I highly recommend a trip to Coava. Oh, and be sure to have one of their delicious scones too. Alas, I don't know who does their baking.

Random Blather

I’m contemplating doing something crazy-technical to my external back-up drive, so I’m going to do this thing instead.

I’ve committed to running the Shamrock Run in March. “Running” may be gilding the lily somewhat, since I adopted long ago a sort of Cro Magnon philosophy: running is a mode of escape and pursuit, and if one has not either caught or escaped from something after a hundred yards or so, exerting oneself further is unnatural and just plain showing off. I’m a humble man (Was… Continue

12x16 Gallery Artists' Reception in Sellwood tomorrow

Last night I went to the opening of this show and the artists' reception is Sunday afternoon:

http://www.12x16gallery.com/#

Richard Enger's pieces were ephemera collages with paint and Raymond Keller's were abstract paintings in unusual, bright colors (artist with two of his work below).  The gallery is in a little sort of alley across SE 13th from the Black Cat Tavern and it's an artists' co-op so I want to…
