Which Portland neighborhood do you call home? Or, are you Moving to Portland?
I live in Los Angeles, but moving to Portland next year!
I am a 24 year old recent college grad who fell in love with Oregon as a fifth grader when I chose the state for a class project! I recently visited Portland with my other half and we fell in love witht he city, the peeps, and the greenery!! I can't wait to move!
If you would like to share any info on the cool spots to live, please do not hesitate! MY bf and I will be taking our german shepherd and poodle mix with us, so we need an animal friendly place, which is terribly hard to find in Los Angeles. We're hoping it won't be as hard in Portland.=)
What do you love about Portland?
The clean air, the nice people, the bikes! and the feeling that you can be whoever you want to be without being judged=)
I love indie rock, soul, and bands such as Death cab for cutie, the brazilian girls, Le Tigre, MGMT, and much more...
What's your favorite Portland neighborhood and why?
I really liked Goose Hollow, it was a cute neighborhood=)
ooh NO NO you dont wanna live here...really.....
AWWW!! PDX is so cool...ya wanna know how cool?
That pet friendly anything hunt in L.A. you do....HA!...here..you not only can find places to live that probably loves dogs, has few themselves....but out n about..you can in most cases, take yer Dog into stores with you...like coffee?....your Dogs are gonna be hangin out w/ other Dogs, and water is probably in a big bowl right there already for them.
wanna get rid of car payments/insurance/repairs/fuel ?
this is where you can do it. Bike-Bus-Train-Trolley WAY better than LA.'s..I know..I lived there..uh...existed there too.
Portland is what L.A. wishes it coulda been....without all that nasty pretention, and keeping up.
PDX is wht you want to make of it..youre allowed...even encouraged...express yourself!
and Dove Lewis is the supah-B.A. emergency animal hospital.
as far as what Hoods' are good places to search for living space...it really depends on who you are and what your about...every good area has it's own kinda..."townships" where there's probably a co-op grocery near funky thrift/clothing shops-near several coffee shops-near either an old tymie movie theatre or some "landmark" kinda aspect to the hood. I live in NE alberta arts district...but every little community is very imersed in the arts.
it's very laid back and evolving. very fun n' colourful.
I suggest gettin on craigslist and post an ad for somewhere to stay while you home hunt..or ya just might find it there.
