Just the other day I admired all the lonely leaves left on trees that are about to land on the ground. Don't get me wrong, we've had an amazing display of autumn foliage yet so…See More

The calm before the BLOOM.....let's do this thing called SPRING hey!!

Tom McCall Waterfront Park - photo taken March "2013"I should preface by saying that YES, I snapped these photos in "2013"...alas, I hang my head in shame as I've had writer's block this ENTIRE week (I blame the nice weather, AHEM) hence being desperate about something to write about. Instead I will lament on the potentiality…See More

Words on Woodstock...

"Southeast Portland"aka "SE" PortlandFrom time to time I am asked why I always state my 'compass location' so to speak. While I don't give you precise coordinates to my EXACT location as I go from client sit to client sit....a mobile nomad must have some anonymity as I might be care taking for local celebrities at times...true story!!Admittedly, Portland is such where one needs to be very specific of location. I am not making this up people. I was a fast study when I first moved here and…See More

Historic Columbia River Highway: let me share this amazing historic stretch of road with you...While I'm sure most Oregonians have heard of it AND many tourists for that matter too...it is a piece of Oregon history that is very close to my heart. Newsworthy Notes from Newport

What a treat to have been invited to the Oregon Coast this past week. And not just for a day trip....for FIVE FULL days. I am a VERY lucky girl and VERY grateful. Profile Information

Which Portland neighborhood do you call home? Or, are you Moving to Portland?
Varied.
About Me:
Mobile nomad with no permanent address. I am a professional care taker, pet/house sitter, dog walker and chicken wrangler. I'm not a real detective but I play one on TV. Writer, reader, researcher and photographer.
What do you love about Portland?
The OUTDOORS, trails, parks and peaks. The arts districts, eco-friendly, sustainable and community vibe, food/drink and the weather.
My music:
Mixed genre, folk, jazz. Josh Ritter, Ryan Adams, Bob Schneider, Roger Clyne and the Peacemakers, Mumford & Sons, Billy Harvey. LOCAL musicians.
What's your favorite Portland neighborhood and why?
This is a hard one as I have been very fortunate to experience many amazing neighborhoods since moving here almost three years ago. My top favs so far: NW Alphabet District and NE Mississippi District.
Favorite quote:
"I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived. I did not wish to live what was not life, living is so dear; nor did I wish to practise resignation, unless it was quite necessary. I wanted to live deep and suck out all the marrow of life, to live so sturdily and Spartan-like as to put to rout all that was not life, to cut a broad swath and shave close, to drive life into a corner, and reduce it to its lowest terms, and, if it proved to be mean, why then to get the whole and genuine meanness of it, and publish its meanness to the world; or if it were sublime, to know it by experience, and be able to give a true account of it in my next excursion."
— Henry David Thoreau
