Ok, to elaborate, the East side neighborhoods have more of a young vibe and neighborhood energy. Downtown is great as well, but living Downtown (e.g. in the Pearl District or NW Nob Hill), can be very expensive! Which apartments are you looking at (…

About Me:
Just sharing my excitement about the great city that I live in. I am hoping to meet lots of like minded people and together all of us will create a fun and useful website.

Other things about me...
I work fulltime in IT...but not on websites
I love to dabble in websites on the side due to the creative aspect (I like to make things)
I always thought my style was contemporary/modern, but now I live in a wonderful old Portland house that was built in 1900 - cool!
I am creative by nature
I love to take photos
I love to read...and write
I love to cook (and eat!)
I am a painter in my spare time (oil painting as opposed to say, painting my house...which needs a re-painting but I can't afford it)
I also make jewelry
On rare occasions, I will break out my old sewing machine, too
I love dogs - they are role models for living in the moment!
I love to be outside enjoying our NW beauty
I love to eat at Portland restaurants
I love taking walks under the old trees of Irvington
I love riding my bike on the Eastbank Esplanade
I love people, but I am a natural introvert
What do you love about Portland?
Geez, what DON'T I love about Portland? I built an entire website just because I like Portland so much. This city is awesome. I would not want to live anyplace else.
My music:
so much music, so little time. My music is whatever Jonathan burned for me that week, and all of it is fantastic.
What's your favorite Portland neighborhood and why?
Ha! There are so many! I love NE PDX because of the diversity (and yeah, cause I live there)

Hi Lori,

Could you tell me about the medical care in Portland. What is the best hospital.
What areas are near the hospital. I have a parent who is older now and want to take this into consideraton when making my decision.
Thank you,

Suzanne

Hi Lori,
Thank you for commenting. I am thinking about moving to Oregon. I live now in Palm Desert, CA where it is to hot for us. I have only been to Portland. I do remember Hillsboro very well. It is beautiful. What other areas are beautiful and have one story homes? Also, is it true most homes are older? This blog is a wonderful way to learn about a city. I am so appreciative.

Portlander,

Hi, how are you? I am good. I am interested in moving to the city and thought I would contact you because you look friendly... Can you tell me more about Portland?

And I don't know if you've ever visited or lived in Philadelphia, or Burlington, VT, but I would be interested in seeing how they compare to Portland?

I look forward to hearing from you!

Yeah I was just snapping away at the ship it from inside the max window, and I didn't realize there was someone in the frame so perfectly until I got home...then thought his jacket was what MADE the picture, ya know? :) And the ship being that way was just odd.

Many thanks! Very reassuring about the cost of housing--I'm a NYer and live in Boston so 450K won't go far in the places I know.
