Which Portland neighborhood do you call home? Or, are you Moving to Portland?
Eastmoreland Neighborhood
About Me:
I moved here 5 years ago from Minneapolis, and I haven't looked back. When I arrived in downtown PDX I felt like I had come out of a 36 year coma. I work at Good Sam. as an Electrophysiology Tech. I do photography too, because besides my husband, it is the love of my life. In August of 2011 we decided to make Portland our permanent home, and purchased our first home! We live in the Eastmoreland neighborhood.
What do you love about Portland?
I love that whenever I step outside, I see something new; a stensil, a transformed plot of dirt, a Good Karma Box, etc. There are tons of tiny little signatures everywhere. You just have to keep your eyes open. Portland has a freedom to it that Minneapolis (hometown) has never had. Oh, and the food carts! I love the Portland food carts.
My music:
Always Radiohead, recently Foster the People, Adele, Florence and the Machine,The Decemberists, The Black Keys, Death Cab for Cutie. Cold Play are not bad either.
What's your favorite Portland neighborhood and why?
I love Eastmoreland for the gigantic trees, and also the area around 50th and Division. The people there are artistic and unafraid of whimsy.
Favorite quote:
"I didn't move to Oregon to sit on my ass"

Ah, Sunshine

Finally some sun for us vitamin D-ficient Portlanders. The South Waterfront neighborhood is coming alive with people and their dogs enjoying the new park, the river path, etc. People are biking and running along SW Moody, despite construction. Birds are bathing in their water dish on my patio..Life is good today. I hope all of you are finding ways to enjoy the sun!

Valentine's Day

Happy V Day Everyone!

I went to Willamette Park yesterday am to shoot photos and do some bird watching (Hey, I love the nerd in me). It turned out to be quite the morning. I found shoreline sludge to report, photographed some geese, met some Russians (one of whom was drunk and kissed me on the cheek) shot a sunrise, found some Valentine's Day colors, and then met the nicest man from India. It was a fantastic morning! I Hope you like my photos,

Coava Roasters

This is a fantastic place to sip a great cup of coffee. I loved the open industrial space and big community tables. The space itself encourages conversation, as does the namesake coffee. I highly recommend a trip to Coava. Oh, and be sure to have one of their delicious scones too. Alas, I don't know who does their baking.

Trees.... the magnificant gate keepers to our planet, they hold many secrets as they tower over all things and give us a place to ponder beneath the shawdows of gallow like branches and shade leaves, if only they could talk.....
