Thanks, Lorri, I emailed OHS. Pretty sure they do animal housing and adoptions, but maybe not law enforcement pertaining to animals. I think Multnomah Co Animal Services is responsible for that. Scanned their site and the county code and didn't spot…

Hi, how are you? I am good. I am interested in moving to the city and thought I would contact you because you look friendly... Can you tell me more about Portland?
And I don't know if you've ever visited or lived in Philadelphia, or Burlington, VT, but I would be interested in seeing how they compare to Portland?
Yes, I certainly understand the responsibilities. I am in school for a little while longer and must finish that first before moving to Portland. I am sorry to hear about your wrist, do take care of yourself...and I look forward to trading stories as well. Jessica
Hi Holland,
Portland appeals to me for all the same reasons, I love my animals and as far as having a dog, it will never happen as long as I live in Santa Barbara, CA. Although it's beautiful here, I am pretty much over it, and ready for a change. I saw your profile on this site and thought 'hey we have something in common'! Portland is so pet friendly and it's wonderful. Are you still planning on making the move?
Hope to hear from you.
Jessica
Wow! Love your description of a motley crew... they sound great! Thor is a recycled pyrenees and his sister is a recycled husky. We picked them up at different shelters around town. Portland has some great rescues and shelters!
Take care.
Thanks for the compliment on the photo :) That's Thor in the picture. What kind of rescue dogs do you have? Maybe I'll get to meet you all at one of the many dog events in Portland sometime.
No, still in Montrose. Trying to escape before the summer totally sets in, but if that doesn't work out, I might be here till school starts in September.
Dove Lewis is an amazing facility. They have saved two of my dog's lives with their emergency care, so of course they have a fond place in my heart for that. Some people complain about them because it is really expensive, but it is akin to emergency medicine for people--you don't go to the ER unless you need to! I think they are a great facility and Portland is lucky to have them.
I have a 12 yr old girl, Squeekers and a 10 year boy, Simon. They are the BEST dogs. You should put up a few photos of yours! I have a few on my page...
