Profile Information

Which Portland neighborhood do you call home? Or, are you Moving to Portland?
I'm moving to Portland.
About Me:
About me? Wow. Man! Let's see... Here are a few occupations I have attempted. I've been a delivery driver, warehouse manager, school teacher, soldier, poet, actor, director...All things theater. Love the theater. I drove a cab in Denver for a year. I am a writer. I fought in Vietnam. I have a wonderful extended family in Denver, Iowa, Washington, D.C., and Jackson Hole. I am a comedian. I love to laugh, joke, gently tease, poke fun at, and find humor in the darkness.
What do you love about Portland?
Easy. I have been enthralled with Portland my entire life. I was a very young boy when I learned my father had lived in Portland, after WWII, working as an on-air radio announcer for KGW. His life in Portland is a mystery to me. Like Portland itself, I carry the old and the new world in my heart. Do I love Portland? I think I will. I haven't really met her yet. We had a brief two week vacation there in the summer, 2016. Early September.
My music:
Not easy. I love all music. I do. What can I tell you? Oh man this is hard! Where do you start? Come on, I can't do it! I love live music. Any music that helps me feel something human, something real and important. If it helps me move then its awesome. I'm listening to "Happiness (Instrumental) by The Foreign Exchange on Connected (Extended Edition)." I'm loving it. It reminds me of driving around Oregon in the dark looking for something I've never had.
What's your favorite Portland neighborhood and why?
I only just in the past few years decided to move to Portland. I need more time to research, learn, understand, and fall in love with some place in Portland. Forgive me if this is the one area I am deficient. I can't presume to know anything. Portland is a Tabla Rosa to me. My last confirmed destination. Humbled I am by it.
Favorite quote:
Not fair. No "favorite." Nah. Context me droogies! Crack that Whip! Okay let's see, here's four; Sylvia Plath: 'What I want back is what I was." Herman Melville: "Friendship at first sight, like love at first sight, is said to be the only truth." Thomas Wolfe: "Some things will never change. Some things will always be the same. Lean down your ear upon the earth and listen." And finally, Ursula K. LeGuin: "“The trouble is that we have a bad habit, encouraged by pedants and sophisticates, of considering happiness as something rather stupid. Only pain is intellectual, only evil interesting. This is the treason of the artist: a refusal to admit the banality of evil and the terrible boredom of pain.”
