Chef, Writer and traveler. Moved to Portland from Hawaii and looking forward to exploring the city, digging the natural wonders, and meeting folks. Although after twenty years in the tropics, I may be a big baby this winter ;-)
-UPDATE: You call this winter? lol. The snow was unexpected, but lots of fun.
What do you love about Portland?
The Details. Everywhere I wander here feels new and fresh. Even after many visits to favorite neighborhoods I am still captivated. The rivers are wonderful, and all the parks perfect respite from the sometimes maddening traffic downtown.
What's your favorite Portland neighborhood and why?
Still working on that. I love them all.

I learned the hard way how beneficial change can be for someone. Good job for recognizing when that time was for you!
Where do your friends live? Will you be staying with them or will you be looking for a rental? I am sort of in that industry and would be happy to point you in a good direction so if you need any help let me know.
Cheers,
Rene

No, Portland is great. You won't be the only one being a baby in the winter. I have grown up here and I still do not like the rain. The only life saver is the snow in the mountain. Do you ski or board? If not, you might want to take that up.
Well there are lots of places to grab excellent coffee and beer. I have my favorite coffee shops so when you get into town, I would be happy to point you in a good direction.
