I usually hesitate to give away all of my "secret" favorite places to eat. It has happened before, a place becomes overly-popular and they change. So it is only for my friends and readers of portland neighborhood.com that I give up the goods. You people can appriciate a good find and not spoil it, I can tell.

Oh my god. I stopped down to the Portland Farmers Market (at PSU) yesterday and found the best jerky ever. Its made by Highland Oak Farm. I wanted to buy a chuck or something nice for a stew but all the meat was frozen so I elected just to pick up a quick snack to try 'em out (fresh, never-frozen meat occurs sometime in early June)...and man...this jerky is f-ine.

The best crab rangoon in Portland is at Basil Thai right across from the Mission Theatre in NW.

Just thought you might want to know.

On lunch blog....and very hungry

Nice story, Sam. TF? TF!! Lovely. Lovely! And it made my tummy rumble thinking about how nice all that TF sounded. Fusion, if you will. I am very excited for our Portland spring and summer as I will have the most raddest baddest garden of all time starting in the first week of May. Pistils Nursery is redoing my entire backyard....and its gonna be pretty much all supabadness of herbs, edibles and some pretties thrown in there to accentuate, well, you know, the view from wherever you might be eating. There will be a water feature (featuring drinking and swimming basset hounds) and a living trellis.

I might ride my new bike through it all and eat random things while taking pictures to post on this site. This comment would be super funny if you'd read the love-sick posts about my new bike in the 'biking group'.

Many thanks! Very reassuring about the cost of housing--I'm a NYer and live in Boston so 450K won't go far in the places I know.
