Downtown is cool but we could use more shops and things for everyday life. Plaid Pantry and Safeway aren't really doing it for me. Then again, I could get off my lazy bum and walk to Whole Foods!

Was oiginally moving to Alberta Arts, till I realized it was missing one major thing - Now I am focused on Downtown. It has everything I would want! (except space, but hey - ya can't have everything, right?)

What downtown needs is a market. And I don't mean Whole Foods, where I can go buy my apples from New Zealand....

The churches of downtown's cultural district are also an unbelievable source of world class concerts and recitals, with many of the events posted at a reasonable price to, in some cases, free.

A lot of us don't realize that downtown's own Portland State University offers up a bounty of performing arts, including plays, concerts, and a ton more in Lincoln Hall. And best part is many of these events are absolutely free!

Summer performing arts are kicking up big time in downtown. I've added a couple of events on the Events calendar, so be sure to check them out. White Bird ballet company is celebrating its tenth anniversary in a big way, and Portland Opera's got "Aida" coming down the pike!
