Hi Scott, this isn't directly in the Alberta neighborhood but not too far away and its a great space for artists who want to live in a co-op situation. Check it out at: http://milepost5.net/. There are lofts for sale and studios for rent - which I think are strictly for artists. I think the artist studios rent for $185-$350/mo. Good luck! -Jennifer Lundstrom

I am a sculptor moving to Portland in March and would like to find housing and a studio space in Alberta neighborhood if I can afford. I have a nice middle aged chocolate lab. I have never been to Portland just loading a uhaul and going for it. So far I plan on staying at banfield value inn unless I can find house share before I get there. I also need to find a storage locker for my tools and furnishings until I am able to settle into something. Any information would be extremely helpful and hope to forge some friendships before arriving. Thanks -Scottie

Do you want experience in the arts or just a chance to meet new friends and neighbors? Art on Alberta is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to promote the Alberta Art District's distinct cultural identity through art and educational activities. We have been fostering the artistic spirit of NE Alberta Street for the past decade. We are currently seeking volunteers who are reliable, professional, positive and work well with a team to help us get ready for our big Art Hop in May 2009, where we will feature the work of Thelma Johnson Streat, the first African American woman to be in the collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York. Opportunities range from educational to neighborhood outreach to nitty gritty promotion. Find your niche and gain valuable experience working with our fantastic team. Contact us at volunteers@artonalberta.org for more information.
