Moving to Portland, need help with rentals

Hey everyone that is taking the time to read this. First off, thanks.

We are wanting to move to Portland for August 1, 2009. Hawthorne area preferably, but we cant seem to find any stand alone houses for rent in the area. Everything we find online seems to be building complexes and that is just not what we are looking for.

We would like to get rid of the car and live by public transportation and bicycles so if you can help us find a house for rent in the Hawthorne area that is walking distance to most conveniences, we would surely appreciate it.

Any suggestions or help would be great!

Have you checked Craigslist? This really does seem to be the best source of rentals. Belmont runs alongside Hawthorne as another option. Its a quick bike ride to get from one to the other as a point of reference.; ▶ Reply to This

I was moving into one house where the "owner" was moving out for a job in another city. A friend checked the records online and found out the person who said he owned the house didn't at all, he was being evicted. Thank goodness for my friend checking and that this person didn't get any of my money!; ▶ Reply to This
