In the past two weeks, I have driven my car a grand total of three times. Today I rode my bike home from work in the rain--I know, nothing special, biking in the rain in Portland, but it was a first for me. It actually felt good, those cool droplets on my face. AND I saved $10.50 on not paying for a parking space at work in Downtown Portland. AND I saved by not paying for gasoline (my tank, at last check, the empty light was on...so I just parked it and my goal is to not drive it again as long as possible because I don't want to spend $40-50 bucks on a tank of gas--it's SO depressing!). AND, I was all proud of myself for doing my body and the environment a little tiny bit of good. Hey, it's no great accomplishment, I know. But it felt pretty good anyway.
Trimet is a savior when it comes to these high gas prices. I have really been noticing a huge difference in the number of riders lately. Lots of folks are converging on local transit since the prices have increased ever so closer to $4.
