Welcome to YOUR Portland Neighborhood Community

I love to dine out in Portland! It is sometimes a huge ordeal to find a new place to eat because I am unsure of the whole experience and have found that city search isn't very helpful at all. I would love to discuss experiences at various eateries and compare and recommend places as well. Let's talk food, service, and atmosphere! One of my favorite places to go recently is Navarre on 28th off NE Burnside. We love this place with the paper ordering slips on the tables and a great wine list. The specials are awesome and they have small plates so you can have a variety of great tasting meals. That has to be the best part. Service is great, and price is very fair. Must try the Lamb and the steamer clams!

I agree, CitySearch sucks. I like Yelp much better. (Of course, I am a reviewer on Yelp myself, so I'm biased http://lorri.yelp.com). I am debating adding reviews to our website here under the Portland Food and Drink pages--we have written a few of our own reviews, but honestly it's better to get a lot of opinions from a lot of people. I don't know if it makes sense to create reviews here, or just link to good reviews elsewhere (like Yelp). On the other hand, I want to know what OUR members are thinking. What do you think, should we create reviews here as well?

Incidentally, I eat out, or have eaten out, at a LOT of Portland restaurants. So, I am not a half bad guide in sending you to a good place to eat. I also like Navarre --delish. I haven't eaten there in a while and must get back over to "restaurant row" on 28th soon. Hey, we could always combine the multipedia (ha, I typed that in error but realized it works), I mean "multimedia P-Town" outings with a dinner out some place... :-)

By the way, join our Portland Food and Drink Group - I haven't done anything with it yet, but will soon...

I love dining out in Portland too. City Search has not been helpful for me either. I am glad this forum is here because it will give me an excuse to re-visit some of my old favorite places to eat and discover new ones. I am excited about reviewing faves like Montage, Salvador Molly's, Roses, Three Square Grill, Produce Row, Saylors, etc.

Many thanks! Very reassuring about the cost of housing--I'm a NYer and live in Boston so 450K won't go far in the places I know.
