In our annual Stories Event, Lunacy Stageworks (“Lunacy”) helps community members create and perform plays out of their own experiences.  We’ve worked with the homeless community, recent immigrants, and human trafficking victims, providing a stage and an audience for their stories to be heard—to foster an understanding of all-too-often stereotyped populations.

Join Lunacy's educational outreach workshop for teens, Lunatic Fringe, for the 4th year of our annual "Stories Series" as we take a closer look at yet another eclectic population: SE Portland youth. A group of savvy students reveal their inner lives to the world, on their own terms: through a thinly disguised veil of parody and satire.

The Lunatic Fringe theatre workshops for teens is the newest addition to our education branch, including middle school and high school. In collaboration with PSF’s Ninth Grade Counts (a network of summer programs supporting kids at risk of dropping out) and the SUN after school program, Lunatic Fringe has established a program for at-risk high school students in which we hold regular classes and performances in the Sellwood-Moreland community during the school year.
