Event Description

October 14th 2015, 4–6 pm
Navigating Rough Waters in Washington DC
with U.S. Representative Suzanne Bonamici
of Oregon's 1st Congressional District

Rep. Bonamici’s presentation will focus on the turbulent politics in Congress, where the Republican-led House is having difficulty reaching agreement on several crucial pieces of legislation, primarily passing a budget to keep government afloat.
Bonamici has focused her efforts on education, family welfare, improving student financial aid and assisting small businesses. She sponsored the successful ‘Tsunami Warning, Education and Research Act of 2015’ now heading to the Senate which will benefit the Pacific Northwest.
Representative Bonamici was elected to the US House in January 2012 to replace Rep. David Wu who resigned the previous year. Her House district includes all of Washington, Columbia and Clatsop Counties and the City of Portland west of the Willamette River.
Prior to her election to Congress, Bonamici served in the Oregon House and Senate, worked for the Federal Trade Commission in Washington, and was an attorney in private practice in Portland. She’s a graduate of Lane Community College, and the U of Oregon undergrad and law schools.
The public is invited to hear this informative program.
Light refreshments will be served.
Walk-ins are always welcome. However, in order for us to provide adequate seating and food, please RSVP by noon Monday, October 12.
