Rebbeca Kilgore and Dave Frishberg to play at Phil's Fire Fund Benefit in Portland

Dave Frishberg and Rebecca Kilgore will be playing at the "Phil's Fire Fund Benefit" to be held at Mcmenamins Crystal Ballroom on Tuesday August 17th from 5:30 to Midnight. The event features Dave Frishberg, Rebecca Kilgore, Julianne Johnson, Michael Manning, Comic Dwight Slade, Walt Curtis and others. A silent auction will set off the event. The event is a fundraiser to assist in the demolition of the Great NW Bookstore that burned down in May, destroying the Old Church Building, 100,000 fine, rare and out of print books and bringing to a close the end of an era. Through the years Phil Wikelund, (owner of the bookstore that was established in 1977) assisted many artists, writers, readers and collectors towards their goals. The event will be emceed by Lew Frederick and Polo Catalani. Featured silent auction items include: paella for 25, dinner for four including Spanish Coffees at Huebers, hotel and restaurant packages, an Astoria Film Festival get away, a year of VooDoo donuts, the wall of wine, never released underground tape recording of Gus Van Sant, a rare signed Dr. Demento vinyl LP with his image on it, noted NW art including an original Runquist, VueCee watercolor, Joel Heidel ink, Marino painting, Martina Gangle print, signed Stafford and Pander broadside, signed editions from NW artists and writers including Bill Plympton, Tim Barnes and more.
