Where to live in Portland areas?

Hi, We are relocating from Idaho to Portland in June. We are a family of 4 with 1 daughter who will start 10th grade. My husband will work in Portland but we want to live outside of Portland. Can you suggest good family neighborhoods, good high schools? We are looking for a rental. Is there areas we should not consider? I appreciate any advice, feedback you can send me. Thank you! Jennifer
