Event Description

Globally, over 2.5 billion people are excluded or underserved by financial systems. Mercy Corps works to introduce new, or expand existing, financing mechanisms and products through a diverse range of models to strengthen access to financial services.

Here in Oregon, one in four people live in "asset poverty." Mercy Corps’ domestic program — Mercy Corps Northwest — works with low-income populations in a variety of ways, including helping provide access to financial education and services.

Join us on July 27, when Mercy Corps Northwest presents social entrepreneur and banker Kat Taylor in a talk about asset poverty. Taylor is Co-Founder and Co-CEO of Beneficial State Bank, a Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) whose mission is to bring beneficial banking to low-income communities in an economically and environmentally sustainable manner.

Come early for a reception to view Mercy Corps Northwest’s current exhibit Rising Together: Stories of Resilience in Portland. Refreshments provided!
