It takes a truly creative mind to construct an iconic image that clearly represents the music that defines the times. Always a constant companion, visual art conveys the depths of a musician in a way no other medium can other than the music itself.

For the month of May, Artful Goods is proud to feature the work of Dan Stiles. A Portland resident, Dan is best known for his poster art. He possesses a talent for melding music and art together. He attributes much of his influence to modern art, album covers, Japanese design and old comic books.

Dan has contributed countless images for bands including: Death Cab for Cutie, Sonic Youth, Arctic Monkeys, Cat Power, Hot Chip, Sigur Ros, Feist, TV on The Radio, Dizzee Rascal, Wilco, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, and many others. In addition, he has been recognized in publications such as Graphis, Print, Step, GQ and Rockport Press.

Artful Goods is a contemporary gallery and gift shop located in the Cultural District of downtown Portland. They are a new addition to the thriving art scene located across the street from the Portland Art Museum and a few blocks from Portland State University.
