Tera Hurst of Renew Oregon and Nancy J. Hamilton of the Oregon Business Alliance for Climate will discuss Oregon’s Clean Energy Jobs bill with Lisa Adatto, Board Member of Climate Solutions.
The Clean Energy Jobs Bill is one of the most important bills in this year’s short legislative session. It puts in place a cap and trade program for carbon emissions, and charges companies that exceed their allowance. These funds pay for the expansion of wind and solar power, public transit and for other clean energy jobs in Oregon.
Last November Governor Kate Brown joined California’s Jerry Brown and Washington’s Jay Inslee at the UN Climate Conference in Bonn to show that Oregonians are committed to innovative and aggressive approaches to tackle climate change. The Clean Energy Jobs bill illustrates how Oregon can demonstrate best practices on this front. A broad coalition of stakeholders including the Confederated Tribes, businesses, labor, environmental and environmental justice groups back this bill.
Light refreshments will be served.
Cost: Members $15; Non-members $20
